Call for a Cultural Museum in Najaf Gains Momentum

A seminar advocating for the establishment of a cultural museum in Najaf took place at the Najaf Heritage Museum and the 1920 Revolution Museum (Khan Al-Shilan). Experts and academics gathered to discuss the importance of preserving the city’s rich history.

The seminar, titled “For the Establishment of a Cultural Museum in Najaf,” was supervised by the Head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, Ali Obaid Shalgham. The Director General of the Public Museums Department, Lama Yas Al-Douri, also closely followed the event.

Call for a cultural museum in Najaf received support from historians and heritage specialists. Speakers included Najaf Heritage Museum Director, Kholoud Abdul Rahman, along with experts Hassan Issa Al-Hakim and Baqir Al-Karbasi. Scholars, cultural figures, and representatives from the Holy Alawi Shrine also attended.

Attendees emphasized Najaf’s deep historical and cultural significance. They highlighted the city’s need for a museum that showcases its long-standing heritage. Many pointed out that such an institution would strengthen cultural identity and preserve historical artifacts.

Call for a cultural museum in Najaf grew stronger as participants engaged in valuable discussions. Experts stressed that Najaf’s historical depth makes it essential to establish a dedicated museum. They agreed that preserving artifacts and traditions would enhance awareness of the city’s contributions to civilization.

The seminar concluded by honoring Hassan Al-Hakim and Baqir Al-Karbasi. Organizers recognized their efforts in promoting Najaf’s cultural heritage through lectures and educational initiatives.

With growing support, efforts to establish a museum in Najaf continue. Advocates believe such a project would protect the city’s legacy and serve as an educational resource for future generations.
