Iraq Pushes for Return of Stolen Antiquities

Iraq continues its efforts to recover stolen antiquities. The Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, emphasized this during a press conference . He highlighted that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has raised this issue at every international gathering.

During a joint press event with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al-Badrani spoke about the successful return of several smuggled artifacts. These historical pieces, stolen during past conflicts, have finally made their way back to Iraq. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs played a significant role in securing their return.

Al-Badrani expressed gratitude for the collaboration that led to this achievement. He noted that Iraq continues its efforts to recover stolen antiquities, urging more cooperation from international bodies. Smuggling has long been a problem, with thieves taking advantage of instability. However, recent diplomatic efforts have helped bring back some of Iraq’s lost treasures.

The Prime Minister has consistently called for global support in retrieving these valuable artifacts. He has made it clear that Iraq’s cultural heritage must be preserved and protected. His appeals in international forums have drawn attention to the need for stronger measures against the illicit trade in antiquities.

Among the recovered items are rare pieces from the Assyrian era. These artifacts hold immense historical significance and serve as a testament to Iraq’s rich past. Their return marks a crucial step in preserving the nation’s heritage.

Iraq continues its efforts to recover stolen antiquities, reinforcing its commitment to protecting its cultural legacy. Government officials stress that ongoing cooperation with international partners is essential. By strengthening these efforts, Iraq hopes to reclaim more of its lost heritage in the future.
