Baghdad, Iraq- On Wednesday, President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, at Al-Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi. During the meeting, President Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s steadfast position on key regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and Syria.

According to a statement from the Media Department of the Presidency of the Republic, President Rashid expressed Iraq’s strong support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state, emphasizing that the Palestinian issue is a humanitarian matter first and foremost, transcending religious or regional boundaries.

The two leaders also discussed ways to further enhance bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest between the two countries. They emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination to support regional security and stability and aligning positions on regional and international levels.

In addition to addressing the Palestinian issue, President Rashid expressed Iraq’s firm stance on Syria, highlighting the right of the Syrian people to self-determination through a government that includes all components and reflects the aspirations of its citizens. He also made it clear that Iraq rejects any foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs, reiterating Iraq’s commitment to supporting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting underscored the shared interests between Iraq and the UAE in promoting regional peace and stability.
