Prime Minister Al-Sudani Expresses Initial Approval for Arab-Russian Summit Participation

Baghdad, Iraq- Iraq’s Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, gave his initial approval to participate in the upcoming Arab-Russian Summit.

The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement indicating that Prime Minister al-Sudani met with Mikhail Bogdanov, the Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and North Africa. The two discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations between Iraq and the Russian Federation, exploring ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors.

The meeting also addressed regional and international developments, focusing on efforts to support stability in the region.

Prime Minister al-Sudani expressed his initial approval to participate in the Arab-Russian Summit, which will soon be hosted by the Russian Federation, recognizing its importance in advancing mutual interests.

He emphasized the Iraqi government’s commitment to developing relations with Russia, highlighting the need to expand cooperation in various areas, particularly in infrastructure and development projects. He stressed the importance of advancing the development road project and Russian transit route initiatives, aiming to achieve mutual benefits and foster deeper ties.

In return, Bogdanov conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and reiterated Russia’s commitment to activating bilateral memoranda of understanding. He also spoke about the forthcoming tenth meeting of the Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee, which will focus on implementing the agreements and memoranda between the two countries.
