% Arabica Expands to Iraq

Baghdad,Iraq- Baghdad is set to welcome its first % Arabica coffee shop by late 2025, marking a significant milestone for the Japanese specialty coffee brand. The move signals % Arabica’s continued expansion in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where it already boasts 48 locations. Further expansion within Iraq is planned for 2026, though specific details remain undisclosed.

With this new venture, Iraq becomes the 10th MENA country to host a % Arabica outlet. The brand’s arrival underscores the growing dynamism of Iraq’s coffee scene, which is increasingly attracting the attention of international players. % Arabica joins other established international brands like Segafredo, Mikel Coffee, and Espressolab already operating within the Iraqi market.

Iraq currently ranks as the 13th largest coffee shop market in the MENA region, with approximately 85 outlets. Despite this relatively modest size, the market is projected to experience substantial growth, with forecasts indicating a 10% expansion by 2029. This anticipated growth, coupled with the increasing demand for specialty coffee, has likely been a key factor in % Arabica’s decision to enter the Iraqi market. The move reflects Iraq’s growing attractiveness to global coffee chains and highlights the increasing sophistication of consumer tastes in the country. It also suggests a growing sense of stability and economic opportunity within Iraq, making it a more appealing destination for international investment
