Baghdad, Iraq- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani received an official invitation to visit Rome. This invitation was extended by the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Niccolò Fontana, during their meeting, which also marked the ambassador’s new role. PM Al-Sudani congratulated Fontana and wished him success in his new position.
According to a statement from al-Sudani’s media office, the meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in various sectors. They also discussed regional developments, including the situation in Syria and the ongoing ceasefire efforts in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Italian ambassador also renewed his invitation for al-Sudani to visit Italy and explore the possibility of signing a strategic agreement between the two nations, similar to those Iraq has already made with France and the UK.
