PM Mohammed Al-Sudani Leads Meeting on Iraq’s National Security Strategy

Baghdad, Iraq- On Monday, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, presided over a meeting with members of the parliamentary team tasked with reviewing Iraq’s National Security Strategy. The session, which was attended by several Members of Parliament, as well as advisors and security experts, focused on the key components and frameworks of the strategy aimed at addressing Iraq’s evolving security needs.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, the discussions centered on security requirements across multiple dimensions and levels, with a particular focus on both internal and external threats. PM Al-Sudani praised the active participation of parliamentary members in this critical matter, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between Iraq’s legislative and executive branches in shaping a comprehensive national security plan.

PM Al-Sudani highlighted that the strategy is designed to address both immediate security concerns and long-term stability, while upholding constitutional principles that protect human rights and the dignity of Iraqi citizens.

In his remarks, Al-Sudani also referenced available data and indicators, which show a positive trend in the nation’s security landscape. Notably, crime rates across various sectors have declined, and there has been continued progress in strengthening the capabilities of Iraq’s armed forces and other security agencies. This ongoing development is crucial in maintaining security, stability, and civil peace throughout the country, Al-Sudani concluded.
