5 ISIS Fighters Killed in Kirkuk Airstrike

Baghdad, Iraq- Five ISIS members were killed in northern Iraq’s Kirkuk province following precision airstrikes carried out by Iraqi security forces. The operation, conducted with CENTCOM’s support, also led to the discovery of several explosive suicide belts and other materials during the subsequent clearance phase.

This operation, part of the ongoing Defeat-ISIS campaign, aimed to weaken and disrupt ISIS’s capabilities, dismantle its attack networks, and ensure its long-term defeat. CENTCOM provided intelligence and technical support to assist the Iraqi forces in carrying out the mission.

CENTCOM emphasized its continued commitment to pursuing ISIS terrorists, who still present a significant threat in the region. While ISIS lost its territorial control in Iraq and Syria by 2017, the group’s remnants remain a concern, Iraq continues to conduct security operations to track them down, and operations continue to eradicate the remaining pockets of the terrorist group.
