President Rashid Offers Condolences on the Passing of Pope Francis

Baghdad – President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid extended his heartfelt condolences on Monday following the passing of Pope Francis, honoring his legacy as a global symbol of peace and compassion.

In a statement shared on social media, the President expressed sorrow over the loss, saying, “With deep sadness, we received the news of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, who took unforgettable stands in support of humanitarian values, rejecting war and violence while promoting peace and coexistence among all peoples.”

He described the Pope as a unique religious and humanitarian figure whose life’s work left a lasting mark on the global pursuit of peace, poverty reduction, and interfaith understanding.

President Rashid concluded his message by offering condolences to the Catholic Church, the Christian community, and people around the world, praying for peace upon the Pope’s soul and comfort for all those who mourn his loss.
