Iraq’s Hosting of Arab League Summit Highlights Regional Cooperation

Baghdad – President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, highlighted the importance of Iraq hosting the upcoming Arab League Summit. He emphasized that this event presents a crucial opportunity to tackle regional challenges with a unified Arab approach.

During a meeting at Baghdad Palace, President Rashid met with Lebanese Minister of Finance Yassine Jaber and Minister of Energy and Water Joseph Al-Sikha. The discussion, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), centered on regional concerns and cooperation between Iraq and Lebanon.

At the start of the meeting, the Lebanese delegation extended warm greetings from President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon. In return, President Rashid expressed his best wishes for Lebanon’s continued growth and stability. The two leaders reaffirmed the strong relationship between their countries, recognizing the importance of their ongoing collaboration.

President Rashid stressed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening ties with Lebanon in various areas. These included trade, economy, industry, and energy. He emphasized the mutual benefits of deeper cooperation, aimed at fostering prosperity for both nations.

Moreover, the President addressed the shared challenges facing the region. He underscored the need for continuous joint efforts and international partnerships to ensure peace and stability on both a regional and global scale. President Rashid reiterated Iraq’s unwavering support for the Lebanese people, further reinforcing the bonds of solidarity between the two nations.

A key focus of the meeting was Iraq’s role in hosting the Arab League Summit. President Rashid described it as a strategic opportunity to enhance Arab unity and address common issues with a unified vision. He expressed Iraq’s hope for Lebanon’s strong participation in the summit, believing it would significantly contribute to its success and promote effective Arab cooperation.

In response, the Lebanese ministers reiterated their support for the summit. They stressed its importance in strengthening Arab unity, dialogue, and integration. Additionally, they committed to deepening Lebanon’s cooperation with Iraq in all sectors, highlighting the importance of mutual collaboration.

The upcoming summit marks a critical moment for the Arab world. It presents a chance to overcome challenges and move forward with a shared vision. By hosting the event, Iraq plays a key role in promoting Arab solidarity and addressing issues of regional importance.
