Iraq Energy Forum Highlights OPEC Secretary General’s Role

The Iraq Energy Forum Highlights the growing importance of Iraq in the global energy sector. The upcoming Baghdad International Energy Forum will take place on September 6 and 7. The event promises to bring together influential figures from the oil and energy industries worldwide.

According to the Ministry of Oil, the Secretary General of OPEC, Haitham Al-Ghais, will deliver the opening speech. Several energy ministers from friendly and neighboring countries will also participate. Moreover, senior government officials and leading experts in energy, oil, and economics will attend. This diverse attendance underscores the forum’s significance.

Organized under the sponsorship of the Iraqi State Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), the forum will attract top executives from global oil and energy firms. These include companies currently operating in Iraq and those interested in expanding investments in its energy market. Their presence signals strong international confidence in Iraq’s energy potential.

Furthermore, this high-level involvement reflects Iraq’s vital role as a key player in international energy markets. It also shows OPEC’s and energy-producing and consuming countries’ commitment to enhancing dialogue and coordination. These efforts are essential due to ongoing geopolitical and economic changes that impact oil and energy markets worldwide.

The forum will serve as a strategic platform to discuss critical issues such as energy security, sustainability, and energy transition. It will include interactive sessions and workshops that bring together decision-makers, company representatives, and international experts. These discussions aim to shape the future of energy regionally and globally.

The Ministry of Oil stated that the Iraq Energy Forum Highlights the Iraqi government’s policy of openness and cooperation. With the backing of SOMO and participation from this elite international leadership, the event will strengthen Iraq’s position as a trusted and influential partner in the energy sector. This forum clearly demonstrates Iraq’s commitment to playing a central role in the future of regional and global energy.
