Iraq and Morocco Sign Agreement to Exempt Diplomatic Passport Holders from Visa Requirements

Baghdad, Iraq- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, alongside his Moroccan counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Saturday to exempt holders of diplomatic passports from entry visas between the two countries. The signing took place at the headquarters of the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At a joint press conference following the signing, Hussein emphasized the significant opportunities to enhance cooperation between Iraq and Morocco. He highlighted the importance of launching direct flights between the two countries to facilitate movement and strengthen economic and investment relations. He further emphasized that his visit to Morocco involved an extensive program that covered various sectors and included discussions on regional and international issues. Hussein reiterated Iraq’s support for the territorial integrity of Morocco and its policies in many global matters.

The discussions between the two ministers also covered political, economic, and trade matters, as well as regional and international situations, particularly focusing on the Palestinian issue and recent developments in the Middle East.

Bourita, in his remarks, acknowledged that Hussein’s visit was a testament to the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. He noted the significant progress made in recent times, particularly with the reopening of embassies, which reflects the deepening ties between Iraq and Morocco.
