Iraq has held talks with Jordan to explore the possibility of establishing production lines for pharmaceuticals, construction materials, and food products, the Iraqi Ministry of Planning confirmed on Sunday.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, and Jordan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Yarub Qudah. The meeting, which was also attended by Jordan’s Ambassador to Iraq, Maher Salem Al-Tarawneh, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including economic, industrial, commercial, and investment fields.
Both sides discussed utilizing Jordan’s expertise in the pharmaceutical sector, with the aim of attracting industrialists and investors to Iraq to set up production lines for medicines, construction materials, and food processing. They also explored potential collaboration on areas such as standardization, quality control, and certification to enhance trade and industrial relations between the two countries.
Jordan’s Minister Qudah expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s recent progress in various sectors and reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s development.
This meeting marks a significant step toward deepening economic and industrial ties between Iraq and Jordan, with both countries eager to explore new avenues for mutual cooperation.
