Iraq and Arab League Discuss Preparations for 2025 Arab Summit

On January 30, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein welcomed Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, and his delegation, which included members of the Preparatory Committee for the 34th Arab Summit, scheduled to take place in Baghdad.

During the meeting, Ambassador Zaki conveyed the greetings of the Arab League’s Secretary-General, and Minister Hussein expressed his appreciation for the delegation’s visit. The Minister reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to ensuring the success of the Summit, emphasizing that the event will showcase Iraq as a secure and stable nation.

The two sides discussed the ongoing preparations for the Summit, with Minister Hussein outlining Iraq’s efforts to meet all logistical and technical requirements. He highlighted the formation of specialized committees overseeing various organizational and technical aspects and emphasized the importance of continued coordination with the Arab League to ensure the highest levels of readiness.

The conversation also covered key topics on the summit’s agenda, particularly political, economic, and media issues. Minister Hussein revealed that Iraq is preparing a comprehensive agenda focused on pressing Arab issues, including boosting economic cooperation and supporting regional security and stability.

Ambassador Zaki praised Iraq’s preparations and expressed confidence in the country’s ability to host a successful summit, which he believes will be a vital platform for enhancing Arab cooperation and addressing regional challenges.

This meeting reflects Iraq’s continued dedication to ensuring the success of the Arab Summit, as the country works diligently to fulfill its role in strengthening Arab unity.
