Heavy Rainfall Disrupts School Operations in Multiple Provinces

Baghdad, Iraq – Several provinces have announced the suspension of school activities due to severe weather conditions. Heavy rainfall has caused significant disruptions, prompting officials to prioritize student safety. Authorities stress the importance of addressing weather-related challenges quickly.

In Karbala, Governor Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi confirmed that schools would remain closed on Sunday. Continuous heavy rain posed risks to students and school facilities. Officials made the decision to prevent potential hazards.

Similarly, the Diyala Education Directorate reported widespread flooding in roads and school buildings. Over the past two days, excessive rainfall created dangerous conditions. General Director Amer Shehab Al-Azzawi authorized school closures for all primary, secondary, and kindergarten institutions. The decision aimed to allow specialized teams to drain excess water and inspect school facilities.

School administrations received instructions to assess damage and coordinate with relevant authorities. Officials emphasized the need for urgent measures to ensure safe learning environments.

The Diwaniyah Provincial Office also announced a temporary school closure due to adverse weather conditions. Officials assured residents that the situation was being closely monitored.

Meanwhile, Anbar Governor Mohammed Nouri confirmed that schools across the province would shut down on Sunday. The continued rainfall raised concerns about potential structural and safety issues.

In Salahuddin, education authorities suspended classes in Samarra and Balad districts. Officials cited deteriorating weather as the primary reason for their decision. The suspension allowed teams to evaluate school conditions and address any hazards.

Maysan Province followed suit, with its education directorate declaring a province-wide school closure. Officials coordinated with Governor Jawad Kazem Sultan before making the announcement. The measure ensured that specialized teams could drain rainwater and inspect school infrastructure.

Education officials urged school administrators to remain on-site. They were instructed to assess damage and report urgent needs. Authorities pledged to provide necessary support for repairs and safety improvements.

Government agencies continue working to manage the impact of severe weather. Officials emphasize their commitment to ensuring student safety and maintaining proper learning environments. Moving forward, they aim to improve infrastructure resilience against extreme weather conditions.
