Al-Sudani: Participation in the Elections Is a National Stance That Will Go Down in History

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has underscored that participation in the elections is a national stance, one that will be remembered throughout Iraq’s democratic journey. Speaking from Nineveh Governorate, the Prime Minister delivered a firm message on the importance of informed electoral participation and the nation’s reconstruction progress.

Al-Sudani declared that voting is not just a democratic right. It is also a conscious battle of awareness between the past and a better future. He emphasized that choosing capable and honest representatives is essential to rebuild public trust in the state.

Transitioning to development, Al-Sudani showcased an extensive list of achievements in Nineveh. He affirmed that the city of Mosul has reclaimed its radiant image due to improved cooperation between the federal and local governments. This unity, he said, has led to stability and significant urban progress.

The Prime Minister noted that Mosul now compares to major cities in the region. This transformation came after completing numerous infrastructure and economic projects, including bridges, roads, and housing developments. Over 183 billion dinars worth of projects have been finalized in Nineveh Governorate.

He added that 26 billion dinars have been used through the Sinjar and Nineveh Plains Reconstruction Fund. Additionally, the local engineering and service teams executed 21 new projects worth 80 billion dinars.

Al-Sudani highlighted new energy initiatives, including the 700-megawatt North Thermal Power Plant valued at 975 billion dinars. Alongside that, the 375-megawatt Qayyarah Power Plant has started, costing 453 billion dinars. Implementation of the Hammam Al-Alil refinery has also begun with a capacity of 70,000 barrels.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the 32-kilometer ring road and the Seventh Bridge are under construction. These alone account for 427 billion dinars. Altogether, ongoing projects in Nineveh total over 2.3 trillion dinars, separate from the province’s regular budget.

Officials are pushing forward with historic projects, including the revitalization of the Old Mosul Riverfront. They rebuilt 273 heritage homes following UNESCO standards.
Construction teams are developing the Ghazlani Residential City with 28,000 housing units. They also launched 14 new infrastructure projects in Sinjar and the Nineveh Plains.

In education, the government built 96 schools as part of a plan to construct 1,000 under the Iraq-China agreement. Officials allocated 14,000 housing units for ownership within 11 modern residential complexes for the first time.

Al-Sudani stressed that participation in the elections is a national stance that helps determine the country’s political, economic, and social stability. He called on Iraqis to choose those who seek reform and reconstruction over those clinging to past failures.

He added that Iraq needs a government that listens to citizens, acts decisively, and delivers on promises. “There is no space for past mistakes or further delays,” he stated. “Our focus remains on serving the people and solving their daily concerns.”

Finally, Al-Sudani repeated his call to action. He urged all Iraqis to see the electoral process as their duty to history. Participation in the elections is a national stance, one that strengthens democracy and drives the nation forward.
