Al-Sudani Orders Crackdown After Attack on U.S. Embassy in Baghdad

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani issued urgent orders to all military and security commanders to track down those responsible for the recent attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. This decisive move underscores Iraq’s commitment to protecting diplomatic missions and maintaining national security. Observers note that the government is determined to enforce the law and prevent further escalation.

Furthermore, Al-Sudani emphasized that targeting embassies or diplomatic missions is unacceptable under any circumstances. Sabah Al-Numan, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, told The Iraqi News Agency-INA, “Such acts undermine national security and threaten the stability of the country as a whole.”

Additionally, Al-Numan stressed that perpetrators operate outside the law and do not represent the will of the Iraqi people. “These rogue groups commit offenses against Iraq, its sovereignty, and its security. Decisions related to war and military action remain exclusively with the state,” he explained. This reinforces the government’s stance that national decisions must follow legal authority.

Moreover, Al-Sudani ordered security forces to intensify investigations and hold the culprits accountable. The measures aim to reassure citizens and the international community that Iraq remains a safe environment for diplomatic operations. Officials say the steps also deter future attacks and strengthen the country’s law enforcement credibility.

In addition, military commanders have been instructed to coordinate closely with intelligence agencies to identify the networks behind the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Analysts note that effective coordination is essential to dismantle these rogue groups and ensure a rapid response in case of further threats.

Consequently, this proactive approach sends a strong signal to both domestic and international actors. Al-Sudani’s orders highlight Iraq’s unwavering commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect foreign missions operating on its soil. Observers suggest that such actions could also reinforce Iraq’s diplomatic relations, particularly with the United States.

Finally, officials confirmed that pursuing those responsible for the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad remains a top priority. The government continues to monitor developments closely while reinforcing security around sensitive sites.
