Erbil Opens Its Doors as Mesopotamia Health Conference Kicks Off

Erbil opens its doors to medical experts as the 11th Mesopotamia Health Conference began on Thursday. President Masoud Barzani attended the opening session, welcoming more than 800 doctors and specialists. The event gathered healthcare professionals from across the Kurdistan Region and beyond. It also aimed to promote scientific exchange and improve public health services.

In his opening remarks, Barzani emphasized Erbil’s commitment to supporting medical initiatives and collaboration. He noted that such gatherings help build stronger healthcare systems. “Erbil opens its doors to doctors and to activities like this,” he said, highlighting the city’s hospitality. He also praised the participation of physicians from all parts of Kurdistan. He called the turnout a source of hope and pride for the region.

Barzani further highlighted the talent and potential of Kurdish professionals when they receive opportunity. He said Kurdistan has produced many distinguished scholars and doctors. “If the opportunity is provided, the Kurdish individual is no less capable than anyone else,” he stated. He added that Kurds can match any nation in expertise and innovation. This point underlined the conference’s goal of strengthening local capacity.

Barzani also praised efforts to prevent the violence from spreading, saying decisive action stopped the escalation. He expressed hope that the agreement reached would hold. He thanked the people of Kurdistan, humanitarian organizations, and media outlets for supporting the region during the crisis. He also reiterated support for the peace process in Turkey and called for dialogue over confrontation. Finally, he said leaders are working to form a new Kurdistan Regional Government, while remaining ready to assist Baghdad. Erbil opens its doors, he added, as the conference continues with scientific panels and health discussions.
