PM Al-Sudani Meets GE Vernova Delegation to Discuss Energy Projects

London, United Kingdom

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani held a meeting this week with a delegation from GE Vernova (General Electric), led by Joseph Anis, President and CEO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The discussion focused on the ongoing strategic projects being carried out by GE across Iraq’s electricity sector.

During the meeting, the delegation provided an update on the progress of several key initiatives, including the construction of new secondary power stations in various provinces, which aim to bolster Iraq’s national power grid. Additionally, GE outlined its efforts in carrying out long-term maintenance work as part of agreements made through previously signed Memorandums of Understanding.

A significant part of the discussion centered on expanding collaboration in renewable energy projects. Both parties emphasized the importance of these initiatives in supporting Iraq’s efforts to boost electricity production, meet rising demand, and address the growing energy needs of the country’s rapidly developing industrial sectors.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing energy infrastructure projects, underscoring the vital role of international partnerships in achieving Iraq’s energy goals.
