UK Officials Visit The Kurdistan Region to Reinforce Regional Stability

President Nechirvan Barzani received UK Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren and his delegation in Erbil today. The UK’s Senior Military Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa visited the Kurdistan Region with the British Consul General, Andrew Bizley.

During their meeting, both sides focused on strengthening regional stability through enhanced security cooperation. They discussed the current political and military landscape in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Both parties stressed the importance of unified action against terrorism.

Vice Admiral Ahlgren emphasized the UK’s unwavering support for the Kurdistan Region. He highlighted Britain’s interest in strengthening regional stability through long-term partnerships. He also confirmed the UK’s commitment to maintaining peace in both Iraq and Kurdistan.

The discussion also included the continued threat posed by ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Both leaders agreed that ISIS remains a danger to peace across the region. They acknowledged recent progress but emphasized that cooperation must continue.

They underlined the need for deeper coordination between Iraqi and Peshmerga forces. The international coalition’s role was also a key topic. Leaders discussed its potential future in helping defeat ISIS and strengthening regional stability.

President Barzani and Vice Admiral Ahlgren praised the achievements of Iraqi and Kurdish forces. They called for increased collaboration between all security partners. The British delegation expressed strong support for Kurdistan’s security reforms.

The meeting concluded with optimism about UK-Kurdistan relations. Both sides agreed to maintain high-level coordination and mutual trust. UK officials reaffirmed their dedication to the stability of Iraq and the wider Middle East.

The presence of the British Consul General highlighted the importance of diplomacy in such partnerships. The visit marks another step in deepening strategic cooperation between the UK and the Kurdistan Region.

This visit signals the UK’s strong interest in lasting peace, regional security, and shared strategic goals in the Middle East.
