Baghdad – Nouri al-Maliki called on Iraqis to draw strength from the Revolution of Imam Hussein. He delivered his remarks during a speech aired on Sunday and followed by the Iraqi News Agency. Additionally, Maliki emphasized the need to hold firm to core principles and values. He urged citizens to find strength in the unwavering stance of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
According to Maliki, noble causes always demand sacrifice. He noted that “pure blood,” like that of Imam Hussein, gives life to sacred goals. He described Imam Hussein as a guiding light for all generations. “Hussein is a beacon and a revolution among revolutions,” he said with conviction.
Maliki stressed that Iraqis must never abandon their values. Instead, they must learn to resist injustice through patience and faith. He stated that the Revolution of Imam Hussein teaches endurance and moral strength. These traits, he said, help preserve humanity and ethics in society.
Furthermore, Maliki encouraged ongoing commemoration of Ashura and Karbala. He explained that this keeps the legacy of Imam Hussein alive. “The school of Imam Hussein is one of martyrdom,” Maliki said. “It teaches us to stand tall in hard times.”
He also added that the revolution of Karbala will always remain relevant. According to him, its messages of sacrifice and resistance never fade.
Importantly, Maliki stated that Imam Hussein continues to lead by example. His values remain a source of guidance for believers today. “The killing of Imam Hussein lights a fire in believers’ hearts that will never cool,” Maliki concluded.
In closing, he asked Iraqis to embody the resilience of Imam Hussein. He also reminded them to protect their moral values at all costs. The Revolution of Imam Hussein remains central in shaping Iraq’s political and spiritual identity. Leaders like Maliki continue to use its message to unite the public around shared values.
