Coordinated Drone Strikes in Iraq Damage Key Military Installations

Baghdad – Coordinated drone strikes in Iraq caused serious damage to military infrastructure early Tuesday. Iraqi officials confirmed that explosive-laden drones targeted major military facilities in different parts of the country.

The attacks began shortly after 2:00 a.m. and continued for over an hour. Sabah Al-Nomaan, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, reported the incident. Two primary sites came under attack: the al-Taji military camp north of Baghdad and the Imam Ali Base in Dhi Qar province.

The drones struck with precision. They severely damaged radar systems at both installations. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Military personnel acted swiftly to control the situation.

Additional drone attacks targeted four other sites across the country. However, Iraqi forces successfully intercepted those threats before they caused harm. Al-Nomaan emphasized that all affected areas remain under full Iraqi control. Only national forces operate at these locations.

In response, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani acted immediately. As a result, he ordered a high-level investigation in his role as Commander-in-Chief. Specifically, the probe will include representatives from all major security and intelligence agencies.

Furthermore, the investigative team will examine every aspect of the attacks. Their primary task is clear: identify the attackers and deliver a complete report. Moreover, the prime minister described the strikes as criminal acts of cowardice. He firmly stated that these offenses would not go unpunished.

“Our armed forces stand ready to protect Iraq,” Al-Nomaan declared. “We will defend our people and land without hesitation.”

Meanwhile, as of Tuesday morning, no group had claimed responsibility for the attacks. Nevertheless, security agencies continue gathering intelligence to determine the source.

Notably, the coordinated drone strikes in Iraq occurred just after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Therefore, the timing of the incident raises concerns over potential regional implications.

The Iraqi government remains vigilant. Officials assure the public that their military is fully capable of responding to further threats. For now, the focus remains on identifying those behind the coordinated drone strikes in Iraq and strengthening defenses.
