Iraq Warns Against Airspace Violations, Urges Global Action in Talks with UK

Baghdad – Iraq warns against airspace violations as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East. On Monday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein spoke with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy by phone. During the call, he demanded immediate steps to stop repeated airspace violations.

Hussein warned that Israel’s ongoing breaches of Iraqi airspace pose serious risks. He said these acts violate both Iraqi sovereignty and international law. He added that if left unchecked, such actions could drag the region into a wider conflict.

The Iraqi minister stressed that Israel’s actions must be addressed urgently. According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iraq warns against airspace violations as a top diplomatic priority. Hussein also called for stronger international pressure to prevent further escalation between Israel and Iran.

He emphasized that the United Kingdom plays a key diplomatic role. Hussein urged Britain to act through the European tripartite mechanism with France and Germany. He also welcomed UK cooperation with the United States on de-escalation efforts.

David Lammy responded by acknowledging Iraq’s concerns. He stated that the UK has not participated in any military strikes in the region. Moreover, he said the UK remains committed to preventing interference by armed groups in Iraq or nearby countries.

Lammy noted that London works closely with Berlin, Paris, and Washington. He said their joint coordination aims to reduce tensions and bring all sides back to the negotiating table. He particularly urged renewed talks over Iran’s nuclear program.

Additionally, Lammy warned against attacks on British or American forces. He said any aggression, no matter the source, would be unacceptable. He also cautioned that closing the Strait of Hormuz would endanger global trade. Such a move, he said, could increase inflation in Europe and hurt the UK economy.

In conclusion, Iraq warns against airspace violations to defend its sovereignty and prevent broader regional conflict. Iraqi officials continue pushing for international cooperation to avoid further escalation.
