Stronger Judicial Cooperation Discussed to Combat Crime

In a crucial meeting between Iraq’s top legal and security officials, stronger judicial cooperation took center stage. The discussion focused on aligning the judiciary with investigative departments within the Interior Ministry. This alignment aims to ensure faster and more efficient justice across the country.

The head of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zidan, welcomed Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and his delegation. The Public Prosecutor General Najm Abdullah and Judicial Oversight Authority Chief Laith Jabir also joined the meeting. Their presence highlighted the importance of building a unified approach to tackling national crime.

Both sides examined several joint concerns. These included the role of investigative units in supporting the judiciary. They emphasized that deeper coordination helps address legal bottlenecks and procedural delays. This, in turn, speeds up judicial processing and improves public trust in the legal system.

Stronger judicial cooperation emerged as a clear necessity during the talks. Officials stressed that when legal and security forces work together, criminals face fewer loopholes. That unity brings clarity to investigations and makes convictions more likely.

In addition to coordination, the meeting also addressed practical methods for crime prevention. Officials reviewed how legal oversight could better support investigators. They also discussed how transparent communication could reduce misunderstandings between police and prosecutors.

The Interior Ministry pledged its support for efforts that promote stronger judicial cooperation. Meanwhile, the judiciary expressed readiness to work closely with investigative bodies to improve outcomes. They agreed that unified protocols and shared strategies are essential for a fair and effective system.

Through these high-level talks, Iraq’s legal and security institutions aim to protect citizens more effectively. Stronger judicial cooperation will be key to reducing crime, improving justice, and building institutional trust.
