Iraq and Spain Strengthen Judicial Ties Through Legal Cooperation

Baghdad – A high-level judicial meeting took place between Iraq and Spain. The President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, welcomed Isabel Perelló, the Spanish President of the General Judicial Council and the Supreme Court. The leaders discussed key legal matters in Baghdad.

Both sides focused on improving legal systems through shared knowledge and joint efforts. This meeting marks a significant step forward in legal cooperation between Iraq and Spain. It reflects a mutual desire to build bridges across legal institutions.

Zidan emphasized the importance of exchanging legal expertise. He underlined how collaboration can enhance fairness and efficiency in both countries’ judicial processes. Perelló expressed strong interest in learning from Iraq’s judicial experiences. She also shared insights from Spain’s evolving legal framework.

The two officials explored several core topics. These included training programs for judges, digital transformation of court systems, and mutual visits between legal experts. Their discussion aimed to open new avenues for sustained dialogue and project planning.

Furthermore, the leaders agreed to develop future frameworks. These would guide efforts to promote justice and transparency. This commitment is a clear indication of legal cooperation between Iraq and Spain becoming more strategic and enduring.

Transitioning from general dialogue to specific proposals, both sides showed readiness to act. Immediate plans involve forming working groups to identify shared priorities. These teams will focus on legal education and judicial reforms.

Such direct collaboration reflects growing trust between the two nations. The meeting concluded with optimism and a shared vision for deeper institutional ties. Moving forward, both sides intend to hold regular meetings and technical workshops.

This engagement signals more than a diplomatic exchange. It demonstrates a purposeful move toward stronger global legal ties. Ultimately, legal cooperation between Iraq and Spain could serve as a model for others in the region.
