Zafraniyah Bridge Project – Easing Baghdad Traffic

The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities has opened the Zafraniyah Bridge, linking the new Dora–Yousifiya expressway. This Zafraniyah Bridge Project crosses the Tigris River via the Gaza Bridge, creating a vital route for commuters.

Hussein Jassim, Director General of Roads and Bridges, represented Minister Benkin Rikani at the opening ceremony. Several officials attended, including Ministerial Consultant Samir Ibrahim and General Jassim Al-Zubaidi. Their presence emphasized the bridge’s importance in Baghdad’s traffic development strategy.

This project is part of the first package of efforts aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Baghdad. It reflects a broader government initiative to improve urban transportation. The bridge provides a new connection point that relieves pressure from existing traffic routes.

The new bridge spans 620 meters in length and 20 meters in width. It includes two lanes for both directions, allowing for smoother vehicle flow. This design supports both efficiency and safety for daily commuters.

Officials believe the Zafraniyah Bridge Project will significantly reduce traffic jams. The structure eases movement between Al-Sharikah Street and the main Zafraniyah Road. It shortens travel times and decreases vehicle congestion at key intersections.

Moreover, this new connection supports faster access to the expressway. It links important commercial and residential zones across the river. As a result, it benefits thousands of drivers each day.

The Ministry continues to prioritize traffic improvement projects. The Zafraniyah Bridge Project shows how strategic infrastructure planning can transform city movement. Authorities aim to replicate this success in other high-traffic areas.

With better planning and execution, Baghdad’s roads are becoming more efficient. This project sets a strong example for future developments. The Zafraniyah Bridge Project brings lasting benefits to the capital’s transportation system and its people.
