On Tuesday, Muthanna Al-Samarrai, leader of the Al-Azm Alliance, met with Glenn Miles, the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, to explore ways of enhancing bilateral ties and fostering regional stability.
During their meeting in Samarra, Al-Samarrai briefed the ambassador on Iraq-Australia cooperation across various sectors. He also shared updates on the “Samarra, Capital of Islamic Civilization” law, a project aimed at preserving the city’s cultural heritage and bolstering its historical and religious significance, with Al-Samarrai serving as the chair of the committee overseeing the initiative.
The two officials also discussed the broader regional landscape, focusing on political stability, developments in the Palestinian issue, and ongoing changes in Syria. Both parties emphasized the necessity of finding sustainable solutions for lasting peace and stability.
The Australian ambassador expressed his country’s strong interest in further strengthening relations with Iraq and reaffirmed Australia’s continued support for Iraq’s efforts to maintain regional stability.
