Iraqi Prime Minister Orders Investigation into Mysterious Death Near Samarra

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has initiated the formation of an investigative committee to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man found on the outskirts of Samarra in Salah Al-Din governorate.

In response to the discovery of the body and the recovery of the victim’s vehicle from the river, the Prime Minister directed the creation of a committee led by the Joint Operations Command, with involvement from relevant agencies. The committee’s goal is to thoroughly investigate the incident and report its findings.

Forensic teams and technical experts are continuing their analysis of the scene to uncover the full details of the case. The investigation aims to determine the true cause of death and gather all relevant information to ensure clarity.

Reports indicate that security forces discovered the body of a man in his twenties in the Banat Al-Hassan area of Samarra. The victim displayed signs of torture, including gunshot wounds, bound hands, and a blindfolded face. Further examination revealed signs of abuse, such as acid burns. Preliminary findings suggest the man had been kidnapped three days prior, with his family having reported him missing after losing contact with him.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the truth behind this tragic event.
