“Iraqi Artist Mazin Ahmed’s ‘What If’ Exhibition Makes Waves in Baghdad”

The Gallery in Baghdad opened the “What If” exhibition by Mazin Ahmed, an Iraqi artist based in Australia. Running until January 15, 2025, the exhibition features Ahmed’s reflections on human potential, Iraqi folklore, and cultural nostalgia. His work, which has been shown internationally, is deeply rooted in Iraqi culture, even though Ahmed has lived abroad for many years.

The “What If” exhibition explores the possibilities of pursuing one’s dreams and ideas, encouraging viewers to reflect on their inner selves. Ahmed’s art also draws from Iraqi traditions, with several pieces inspired by vintage Iraqi stamps and envelopes, symbolizing the emotional depth of handwritten communication in contrast to modern digital exchanges.

The exhibition has received a positive response from visitors, who have found the artwork both thought-provoking and inspiring. “What If” is a cultural highlight in Baghdad, offering a rare opportunity to experience world-class art in the city. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on their own potential and the beauty of Iraqi cultural identity.
