PM Al-Sudani Urges Collective Effort to Enhance Baghdad’s Appearance and services

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has urged service institutions to step up efforts to improve Baghdad’s appearance. He stressed the importance of a collective effort to present the city in a way that aligns with its rich history and cultural legacy. Al-Sudani met with sanitation workers and shared a Ramadan Iftar meal with them. He praised their hard work and dedication, particularly in maintaining the city’s cleanliness during recent heavy rains. The prime minister acknowledged that their efforts have been essential in ensuring the city remains functional and well-kept, despite challenging weather conditions.

In addition to the sanitation workers, Al-Sudani also commended the staff from the municipal services and sewage departments. These workers have been putting in exceptional efforts to keep Baghdad’s streets, alleys, and neighborhoods in good shape. Their work has become even more critical due to recent rainfall, which reached 72 millimeters in some areas. The Prime Minister also highlighted several infrastructure projects being carried out across Baghdad. These initiatives, long overdue, are transforming the city’s infrastructure and improving the flow of traffic. They are also enhancing the city’s aesthetics, making Baghdad a more appealing place for residents and visitors alike. Additionally, new sewage networks are being constructed to better manage waste and improve sanitation throughout the city.

Al-Sudani mentioned that local Iraqi companies have been contracted to handle key sewage projects in areas like Sabaa al-Bour, Nahrawan, Al-Wahda, Abu Ghraib, and Al-Rashidiya. These projects reflect a broader push to modernize Baghdad’s infrastructure, improve public services, and create a more sustainable environment. The Prime Minister’s efforts underline Baghdad’s importance as a vital cultural and tourist destination in the Arab world. His remarks emphasize the need for a coordinated approach to showcase Baghdad’s heritage while ensuring its continued growth and development. As the city undergoes these improvements, Baghdad is expected to shine as a symbol of Iraq’s future.
