Iraq’s Oil Exports to US Declined in 2024 but Remain Vital for Energy Trade

Baghdad, Iraq – Iraq exported over 95 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products to the United States in 2024, marking a decline from 115 million barrels the previous year, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

EIA data showed that April recorded the highest monthly exports at 10.5 million barrels, while February saw the lowest at 4.68 million barrels. Despite these fluctuations, Iraqi oil shipments to the US have generally followed an upward trend in recent years, occasionally reaching record highs.

The sustained exports highlight Iraq’s expanding production capacity and the rising global demand for oil. As one of the world’s top producers, Iraq continues to play a key role in global energy markets.

The trade partnership between Iraq and the US remains essential for energy stability. These exports not only bolster Iraq’s economy but also support the US energy sector by ensuring a steady supply of crude oil.

As global energy markets continue to evolve, Iraq’s oil industry remains a critical player in meeting demand and strengthening international trade relations.
