Regional Powers Pledge Support for Syrian Stability

Baghdad, Iraq – Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Syria’s stability following a high-level meeting in Amman on Sunday. The gathering, attended by foreign ministers, defense ministers, and intelligence chiefs, focused on shared security challenges and counterterrorism efforts.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stressed the need for a Syrian-led dialogue to ensure long-term peace, emphasizing that Iraq’s security is closely tied to Syria’s stability. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi echoed this sentiment, highlighting the region’s unified stance against terrorism.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan condemned Israel’s actions in Syria and called for unity among all Syrian factions. Meanwhile, Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani reaffirmed the government’s role in maintaining internal peace and preventing any external entities from assuming state functions.

The meeting follows earlier agreements between Jordan and Syria to bolster border security and intelligence-sharing initiatives between Iraq and Syria to prevent an ISIS resurgence.
