Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Highlights ISIS Threat to Iraq and Regional Security

Baghdad, Iraq- Iraq’s Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, emphasized the ongoing threat posed by ISIS to both regional and national security. Speaking at a press conference following a meeting of Syria’s neighboring countries, Hussein pointed out the necessity of regional and international cooperation in combating the terrorist organization.

He stressed that fighting ISIS is a crucial responsibility for Iraq, one that requires support from both its neighbors and the global community. According to Hussein, ISIS’s presence continues to destabilize the region, with serious implications for Iraq’s security. He made it clear that “fighting the terrorist ISIS is our duty.”

In addition to combating ISIS, Hussein highlighted the importance of dialogue in achieving stability in Syria. He noted that engaging with various components within the country is essential for a long-term solution. He also underscored the significance of information exchange between Syria’s neighboring countries, which is vital for countering ISIS.

Hussein’s statements reflect Iraq’s ongoing efforts to address regional instability, particularly in light of the persistent threat posed by ISIS in both Iraq and Syria. As the situation remains complex, the call for greater cooperation and strategic alliances among neighboring nations continues to be central to Iraq’s security priorities.
