Spring Literary Week Celebrates Iraqi Literature and Art”

Baghdad, Iraq – The seventh day of Spring Literary Week featured a series of cultural events that brought together writers, poets, and art lovers. Organized by the General Union of Writers and Authors in Iraq, the event, titled A Spring Stroll with a Book, continues to celebrate literature and creativity with a diverse audience.

A major highlight of the day was the book signing for The Architectural Structure of the Modern Narrative Film by Kazem Murshid Al-Salloum. Recently published by the union, the book delves into the technical and artistic aspects of modern filmmaking. A large crowd gathered to meet the author, discuss his work, and explore the book’s insights into cinematic storytelling.

During the first session, critic Saad Al-Tamimi led a discussion honoring poet Hassan Abdul Radi, who recently won the Iraqi Creativity Prize. The poet reflected on his literary journey, recalling his early work, including his first poetry collection, The Plague. He expressed his deep connection to poetry, describing it as his true passion despite writing in other genres such as criticism, essays, novels, and children’s literature. To share his artistic vision, he read a selection of his poems, each touching on different themes and emotions.

The second session featured a performance by the Iraqi Maqam Ensemble, led by musician Taha Gharib. The group performed several beloved traditional Iraqi songs, including Fouq Al-Nakhal, O Yabeh, Ayan Ya Doctor, and Ya Qalbi Sel Wa Dhoubi Sel. The performance energized the audience, who responded with enthusiasm and warm applause.

Spring Literary Week continues to highlight Iraq’s rich cultural heritage by bringing together literature and music in a vibrant celebration. The event serves as a platform for creative expression, fostering artistic dialogue and strengthening the literary community. As more activities unfold, attendees eagerly anticipate further performances and literary discussions.
