Iraqi and Egyptian Presidents Reaffirm Commitment to Arab Cooperation at Summit

Baghdad, Iraq- Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi have once again emphasized their dedication to enhancing Arab cooperation mechanisms in order to address the region’s current challenges. This reaffirmation took place during their meeting on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab Summit.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Presidency, the two leaders met alongside Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty and other senior Egyptian officials. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two nations to serve their mutual interests.

The two leaders highlighted the significance of fostering comprehensive Arab collaboration to tackle pressing regional issues. They also stressed the importance of increasing constructive integration across various sectors to ensure the long-term stability and prosperity of the Arab world.

A major topic of discussion was the escalating situation in Gaza. Both presidents addressed the deepening humanitarian crisis and the failure of the occupying entity to adhere to ceasefire agreements. They expressed concern about the urgent need to create conditions that would allow for the resumption of the second phase of negotiations. The leaders called for an immediate halt to hostilities, the protection of civilians, and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid.

The meeting was attended by a high-ranking Iraqi delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Kurdistan Regional Government Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Iraq’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Dr. Qahtan Al-Janabi, and Presidential Advisor Mustafa Ghaleb Mukheef.

Both President Rashid and President El-Sisi’s meeting highlighted their commitment to strengthening Arab unity and addressing regional issues through cooperative, peaceful solutions.
