President Abdul Latif Rashid Rejects Palestinian Displacement Plans at Arab Summit

Baghdad, Iraq – At the emergency Arab summit held in Cairo on Tuesday, President Abdul Latif Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s strong stance against projects aimed at displacing Palestinians from their land. He called for immediate action from the international and Islamic communities to confront such initiatives.

During his speech, Rashid reiterated Iraq’s firm position, stating, “We renew our call for the realization of the Palestinian people’s hopes in establishing an internationally recognized Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.” He emphasized Iraq’s unwavering support for Palestine’s sovereignty and independence.

Rashid condemned the recent decision by Israel to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in the occupied territories. He also strongly opposed the plans to forcibly displace two million Palestinians from Gaza, warning of the disastrous effects these projects would have on regional stability and security.

“We warn of the disastrous effects of projects that aim to clear the Palestinians and deprive them of their right to their land,” Rashid said, stressing the severe consequences that such actions would have for the countries of the region. He called for urgent efforts to rebuild Gaza, renewing Iraq’s proposal to establish a fund to assist in its reconstruction and a comprehensive assessment to address its needs.

The President also made a strong call to the international and Islamic communities to act swiftly and decisively. “Iraq strongly rejects any attempt to find an alternative place for the Palestinians outside their homeland,” Rashid declared, reaffirming Iraq’s commitment to defending Palestinian rights and territories.
