PM Mohammed Al-Sudani Leads Key Meeting on Reconstruction and Investment Progress

Baghdad, Iraq- Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani presided over the regular meeting of the Higher Committee for Reconstruction and Investment. During the meeting, the committee reviewed the status of ongoing investment projects. They also assessed the progress made in advancing investment opportunities across Iraq, particularly in the capital, Baghdad.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of several key decisions aimed at boosting investment in critical sectors. These sectors include industry, housing, and public services. Notably, approval was granted to initiate housing projects for Ministry of Defense personnel in Basra and Nineveh.

Additionally, a new model for public benefit from investment was approved. It focuses on the state’s share in housing units for new residential complexes. A key aspect of this model involves investors taking responsibility for infrastructure service projects. The implementation value must match the state’s approved share. The first steps of this initiative will be demonstrated through projects aimed at rehabilitating and expanding streets in Sadr City, located in eastern Baghdad.

The committee also discussed the establishment of a new headquarters for the Union of Arab Historians in Baghdad. Prime Minister al-Sudani directed that the issue be resolved by identifying a suitable location. The size and design of the headquarters must meet the necessary requirements.
