Title: Amendment Signed to Extend Financing for Key Development Projects

he Ministry of Finance has signed an amendment to its loan agreement with the German Development Bank (KfW), aimed at financing several important development projects in Iraq.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the amendment was formalized today at the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of Minister Taif Sami Muhammad and the KfW representative in Iraq.

The new agreement focuses on extending the financing period for specific projects that are being funded by the German Development Bank. These include:

  • An extension of the loan agreement for the rehabilitation of infrastructure to provide electricity in the liberated areas (Phase 3), with a total loan amount of 140 million euros, now extended until January 15, 2027.
  • An extension of the loan agreement for the rehabilitation of infrastructure related to roads, bridges, water, and sanitation, with a total loan amount of 90 million euros, now extended until December 31, 2026.

This agreement ensures continued support for critical infrastructure projects, helping to boost development efforts in Iraq’s liberated regions.
