President Nechirvan Barzani met UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday for talks on strengthening the long-standing partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the United Arab Emirates. President Barzani was accompanied by his son, Idris Nechirvan Barzani.
The two leaders reviewed avenues for expanding cooperation across the economy, trade, and energy security, building on existing ties to serve mutual interests and reaffirming the UAE’s continued role as a key partner in the growth and stability of the Kurdistan Region.
A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to the current political climate in the Middle East. President Barzani and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed exchanged views on recent regional developments and their implications for security and stability, reaffirming a shared commitment to peace across the region and beyond.
The visit follows a month of intensive diplomatic activity for the President, including his participation earlier this month in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey, where he engaged a range of world leaders on regional stability. His arrival in Abu Dhabi further underscores Erbil’s proactive role in regional diplomacy and its pursuit of strong international partnerships.
