On Sunday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the crucial role of the media in shaping public perception and fostering societal progress. He stressed that the media not only serves as a tool to communicate the true image of events and issues but also plays an essential role in the development and future of modern societies.
In a meeting with a delegation from the Gulf Media Union, attended by journalists and artists from Gulf countries, al-Sudani discussed Iraq’s ongoing development and reconstruction. The Prime Minister highlighted the significant impact of media, art, and sports in strengthening ties between nations, noting the role of such initiatives in promoting unity and cooperation.
The Prime Minister particularly referenced the successful 25th Gulf Cup held in Basra, which he said reflected the unity, brotherhood, and mutual interaction of the participating countries. He further emphasized the responsibility of the media to portray events objectively, without distortion or bias, and to serve the greater good by avoiding manipulation for narrow interests.
In response, the Gulf Media Union delegation expressed their gratitude for Iraq’s continued support for media and cultural initiatives, appreciating the warm reception they received during their visit.
