Baghdad – Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced that he had formally delivered an invitation from Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, inviting him to attend the upcoming Baghdad Summit next month.
Minister Hussein presented the invitation to King Hamad during a meeting at Al-Qudaibiya Palace in Manama, where he was warmly received. The meeting was attended by key Bahraini officials, including Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah, and Minister of the Royal Court Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed.
During the visit, Minister Hussein conveyed the greetings of both President Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani to the Bahraini monarch. King Hamad, in return, expressed his admiration for the historical and deep-rooted ties between Bahrain and Iraq. He highlighted the longstanding friendship and cultural affinity between the two nations, noting Iraq’s rich cultural legacy in literature, science, and knowledge throughout history. The King also emphasized the shared values and hoped for further cooperation in various sectors.
Foreign Minister Hussein underlined the importance of enhancing regional stability, stressing its vital role in supporting development and reconstruction efforts. He acknowledged Bahrain’s significant contributions to regional development and reiterated Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Bahrain. Hussein also pointed to Iraq’s success in defeating the terrorist group Daesh and restoring security, which has enabled the country to embark on reconstruction and economic growth.
The discussion also covered the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, with both sides emphasizing the need for peaceful solutions to reduce regional tensions. Minister Hussein reaffirmed Iraq’s full support for these negotiations, expressing gratitude to King Hamad for the warm welcome and hospitality during the visit.
