Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani Proposes Conference to Support Syria’s Stability

Baghdad-Iraq- Iraq’s Parliament Speaker, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, has presented a proposal aimed at supporting Syria’s stability through a conference that would involve neighboring Arab and Islamic countries. The proposal was put forward during a meeting today, Tuesday, between Al-Mashhadani and Ali Larijani, the advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a statement from the media office of the Parliament Speaker, the meeting focused on discussing the significant challenges and developments currently unfolding in the region, with a particular emphasis on Syria.

Al-Mashhadani highlighted the importance of Iraq adopting the initiative to convene a conference involving countries in the Arab world and the broader Islamic region. The goal of the conference would be to offer support for Syria’s stability, especially considering the significant changes the country is undergoing.

In his remarks, Al-Mashhadani emphasized Iraq’s commitment to Syria’s unity and stability. He advocated for the support of a democratic system in Syria, one that would include the participation of all political factions without any form of exclusion or marginalization.

Advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Larijani, expressed his appreciation for the proposal. He confirmed that Iran would be the first country to participate in the conference if the initiative receives broad regional support.
