Baghdad – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman on Sunday to personally deliver an official invitation from the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, inviting him to attend the Arab Summit set to take place next month in Baghdad.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings of both the Iraqi President and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. The two sides discussed Iraq’s preparations to host the summit and its significance for regional unity.
Hussein emphasized Iraq’s commitment to making the summit a meaningful platform for enhancing Arab solidarity and addressing shared challenges. He underscored the importance of Palestine’s active participation, particularly in the development-focused sessions that will precede the political summit. He also reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and expressed deep concern for the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
President Abbas, in turn, expressed appreciation for Iraq’s continued support and the invitation, reaffirming that the Palestinian issue remains central to collective Arab efforts.
