Iraq and Spain Strengthen Security Ties with Focus on Training and Cooperation

Baghdad – Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari welcomed Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska in Baghdad on Wednesday for official talks aimed at boosting bilateral security collaboration.

The meeting included a formal reception at the Ministry of Interior headquarters, attended by senior security leaders from both countries. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as counterterrorism, organized crime, drug control, and cybersecurity.

Both ministers emphasized the importance of training, capacity building, and the exchange of expertise between their respective institutions. The talks underscored a shared commitment to expanding strategic ties and tackling common security challenges through joint initiatives and information sharing.
