Government Expands Joy Schools Project to Support Orphans

The government continues its commitment to the Joy Schools project for orphans, aiming to complete 100 schools this year. Officials have also decided to include students in the financial aid program to ease their educational journey.

The Prime Minister met with a group of Joy Schools students and joined them for a Ramadan iftar. The Minister of Education and several teachers also attended the gathering. During the event, the Prime Minister emphasized the state’s moral and social duty to care for orphans, whose numbers have reached 430,000. He stressed that supporting them is not charity but a fundamental obligation.

The government has made significant progress in building school infrastructure. Officials established Joy Schools to address the unique needs of orphaned children. Efforts continue to provide all necessary resources, including a full teaching staff and social workers for psychological support.

Authorities remain determined to make this initiative successful. The project started with 31 schools and will expand through the Iraq Development Fund. The goal is to reach 100 schools by the end of the year, ensuring students receive high-quality education. The government also plans to solve the shortage of school buildings by eliminating triple-shift classes through private sector partnerships. Governors have been instructed to allocate land for new schools.

Support for the education sector remains a priority. The government will also expedite financial grants for students, including those in Joy Schools. This initiative has already reduced dropout rates, marking a significant achievement in the education system. The expansion of Joy Schools represents a crucial step toward improving educational opportunities for orphans and ensuring a brighter future for them.
