Crackdown on Smuggled Wheat and Flour in Diyala

Authorities have taken serious steps to stop the illegal trade of food supplies in Diyala. In a major sweep, inspection teams uncovered large quantities of smuggled wheat and flour. This bold action proves the government’s ongoing effort to ensure safe food markets in Diyala.

According to the Director General of the Commercial and Financial Control Department, inspection teams worked closely with security forces. Together, they tracked and exposed those tampering with items from the government’s food support program. The mission succeeded within the framework of a broader plan to monitor market prices and protect consumers.

During the operation, the joint teams found a hidden warehouse in the Baawia area of Diyala. Inside, they discovered 270 tons of locally produced wheat. Alongside it, they seized 100 tons of flour meant for the subsidized food basket. These items were likely prepared for illegal sale or used in commercial fraud.

Security forces acted quickly. They confiscated the full stock and launched strict legal measures against the involved traders. These individuals had tried to profit at the expense of ordinary citizens. Their actions threatened both food security and public trust.

Moreover, officials stressed the importance of maintaining safe food markets in Diyala. They promised stronger monitoring of food distribution and tighter control over local warehouses. This crackdown sends a strong message to those who attempt to manipulate vital resources.

The Ministry of Commerce also praised the effective cooperation between inspection teams and national security forces. This unity proved essential in uncovering the hidden stockpile. It also ensured swift action and legal accountability.

Efforts like these highlight the government’s focus on safe food markets in Diyala. By staying vigilant and responding firmly, officials aim to protect the rights and needs of every citizen.
