BAGHDAD METRO LINES: A VITAL TRANSPORT PROJECT

The Baghdad metro project is a vital and long-awaited initiative. The government has designed three different routes for the project. These include an underground line, a surface line, and an elevated line. Each route fits the nature of the area it passes through.

Mohammed Al-Najjar, advisor to the Prime Minister, said the metro is strategic and essential. The project financing fund now manages the planning and execution mechanisms. They have prepared a comprehensive plan and a new vision. This includes construction and operation methods and a complete administrative structure for effective management.

The first phase will start soon, marking the beginning of a multi-stage project. The project will take several years and several phases to complete. The initial phase will build one metro line with all necessary facilities. Later phases will begin either after or alongside the first.

Al-Najjar explained that the project design suits Baghdad’s diverse areas. The old parts of the city will have underground metro lines. Areas that allow it will have surface lines. Meanwhile, low-density regions will see elevated tracks.

This hybrid model, combining tunnels, ground, and elevated tracks, represents modern metro projects worldwide. It uses advanced technology to integrate these systems efficiently.

The government has started handing over land to investors. So far, about 250 plots have been delivered. They are finalizing modern designs with an international consultant. This consultant coordinates with investor advisors to complete preliminary designs. After finishing these, construction work will begin immediately. The remaining land deliveries will continue in the following stages.

In conclusion, the Baghdad metro lines project promises to revolutionize public transport. It blends innovative technology with careful planning to serve the city’s needs. The project reflects Baghdad’s vision for a modern and efficient urban transit system.
