Baghdad Arab Tourism Statistics Forum Attracts Global Attention

The Baghdad Arab Tourism Statistics Forum will soon take center stage in Iraq. The Tourism Authority confirmed Baghdad will host the third edition from September 21 to 23. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani will sponsor the event.

According to Tourism Authority spokesperson Ali Yassin, the forum coincides with Baghdad’s selection as the Arab Tourism Capital 2025. Therefore, this recognition highlights Iraq’s rising status on both the Arab and international tourism maps. Moreover, the event is organized in coordination with the League of Arab States and several global organizations.

Yassin confirmed that the forum will welcome participants from 16 Arab countries, including Jordan, Algeria, Syria, Palestine, Qatar, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, and Yemen. In addition, several friendly countries such as Turkey, Burkina Faso, and South Africa will attend. International institutions will also join, including the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Tourism Organization, the GCC Statistical Center, and the African Union.

The agenda will tackle challenges in tourism statistics while also presenting future visions for growth. Furthermore, the forum aims to promote the exchange of international experiences that can support Iraq’s tourism sector. This knowledge-sharing process will strengthen the wider region’s tourism development.

Key themes will include sustainable tourism, Arab tourism development strategies, digital transformation, and the role of media in shaping global tourism trends. Iraq also plans to showcase several files outlining its efforts to expand tourism infrastructure. Additionally, the government will present initiatives that focus on building stronger Arab and international partnerships.

By hosting this important event, Baghdad seeks to position itself as a regional hub for tourism cooperation. The Baghdad Arab Tourism Statistics Forum not only creates opportunities for Iraq but also fosters collaboration with global stakeholders. It marks a turning point for Iraq’s tourism industry and reinforces the country’s commitment to sustainable growth and international cooperation.
