Al-Sudani and Turkish Intelligence Chief Advance Iraq-Türkiye Cooperation

Baghdad – Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with Mr. Ibrahim Kalin, Head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization. The meeting took place in Baghdad and included high-level discussions between both sides.

Mr. Kalin led a Turkish delegation that conveyed greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The message reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to enhancing Iraq-Türkiye cooperation in multiple sectors.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani welcomed the delegation and acknowledged the importance of building stronger ties between the two neighboring countries. He noted that mutual respect and regular dialogue help resolve regional challenges.

The talks focused heavily on security coordination and intelligence sharing. Both parties emphasized the need to improve border security between Iraq and Türkiye. They discussed joint mechanisms to counter threats that affect regional peace.

Furthermore, they reviewed existing intelligence efforts and explored ways to make these systems more effective. They also stressed the importance of preventing cross-border violations and protecting citizens on both sides.
