Coordination Framework Intensifies Talks as Iraq PM Deadline Approaches

Leaders from the Coordination Framework gathered late Saturday night in Baghdad. They met inside the government palace to tackle a growing political crisis. The Iraqi PM’s deadline now pressures all sides to act quickly.

The coalition holds a strong parliamentary presence with 162 seats. However, internal divisions continue to block progress. As a result, leaders have failed to agree on a single prime minister nominee. The Iraqi PM’s deadline has increased urgency across the political scene.

According to a political source, the meeting focused on narrowing differences. Leaders aimed to build a unified position that satisfies all factions. They also explored new proposals to reach consensus. These efforts reflect mounting concern over missing the Iraq PM deadline.

Disagreements extend beyond candidate selection. In fact, leaders continue to debate how to choose the nominee. Some members support consensus, while others demand an internal vote. This disagreement complicates negotiations and slows progress.

Moreover, disputes over ministerial portfolios add further tension. Parties want clear guarantees about their share in the next government. Therefore, negotiations now involve both leadership positions and power distribution. These factors make agreement more difficult.

Meanwhile, constitutional requirements leave little room for delay. Article 76 sets strict timelines for forming a government. The bloc must present its nominee within 15 days of the president’s election. This rule places additional pressure on political leaders.

President Nizar Amedi received his mandate earlier this month. Consequently, the deadline falls on April 26. If the bloc submits a nominee, that candidate must act quickly. The nominee will have 30 days to form a cabinet and gain parliamentary approval.

Political observers warn that failure could deepen instability. Therefore, leaders now face a critical moment. They must overcome divisions or risk prolonging the crisis.

In conclusion, the Coordination Framework continues intense discussions. The Iraq PM’s deadline forces leaders to accelerate negotiations. While challenges remain, ongoing talks signal a push toward resolution.
